The part that actually matters. WeatherSpirit gives general husbandry guidance based on a weather forecast. It is not veterinary advice, it is not a severe-weather warning service, and it is not a flood authority. You are responsible for your animals. Every decision the app suggests remains yours to make, override or ignore, and a forecast can be wrong.
1. Who these terms apply to
These terms govern your use of the WeatherSpirit mobile application and weatherspirit.com, operated by Kyle ("we", "us", "our"). By using the app or the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use them.
2. What the service is
WeatherSpirit displays weather information and computes species-specific husbandry guidance from it — cover recommendations, activity windows, ground conditions, water estimates and similar — using a profile of your animal that you supply. It also displays illustrative artwork.
The guidance is generated by applying general rules of thumb, drawn from published husbandry sources and from our own calibration, to a forecast. It is a starting point for your judgement, not a substitute for it.
3. Not veterinary advice
Nothing in the app is veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment, and no part of it is produced or reviewed by a veterinarian in relation to your particular animal.
The recommendations do not account for an individual animal’s health conditions, medications, injuries or history. An animal that is ill, injured, very young, very old, pregnant, lactating, metabolic, or recovering requires a veterinarian’s judgement. If you are worried about an animal, call your vet — do not wait on an app.
4. Not a weather warning service
WeatherSpirit is not, and must never be relied on as, a severe-weather warning service. It does not detect lightning. It does not issue warnings. Its forecast can be hours old, and it tells you how old on every screen for exactly that reason.
Official alerts issued by your national meteorological agency always take precedence. The app displays them unmodified, names the issuing agency, and links to their page — and where a platform provides no alert coverage for your region, the app says so rather than implying there are none.
5. Not a flood authority
Where river-gauge features are available, they restate publicly published gauge readings, official forecast stages and official impact statements, measured against fordable levels you supplied yourself.
A gauge can fail. A forecast can miss. Your calibration of what is fordable can be wrong, and the app cannot detect any of those. Flood warnings from your national weather service and instructions from local emergency management are authoritative, always. This feature buys you lead time; it does not make the decision, and it is never an evacuation instruction.
6. Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for the care, handling and safety of your animals, and for any decision you make about riding, walking, turnout, cover, water, shelter, travel or crossing water. A "Good" window is a statement about weather and ground conditions — not about a particular animal, a particular handler, or a particular day’s soundness or temperament. The handler is responsible for the outing.
You are also responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. The guidance is only as good as the profile behind it, and a wrong weight, clip level or fordable level produces a wrong answer confidently.
7. Your data and your content
Everything you enter — animals, places, wardrobe, thresholds, history — stays on your device. We do not receive it, host it or claim any rights in it. It is yours, and it remains yours.
You are responsible for keeping your own backups. We cannot recover data from a lost, damaged or wiped device, because we never had a copy. The app provides an export for this purpose.
8. Artwork and intellectual property
The app, its name, its design, its artwork and the advisory logic within it are ours or our licensors’, and are protected by copyright. You may use the app for its intended purpose. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, decompile or extract its artwork or data sets for other use.
The imagery is AI-generated and is labelled as such in the app. It is illustrative — it depicts a kind of animal in a kind of weather, not your animal, and it is not a photographic record of anything.
Weather data is provided by Apple’s weather service and is subject to their terms. Bundled place data comes from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and OurAirports (public domain), attributed in the app. River-gauge data is public United States government information.
9. Price and changes
The app is currently free with no in-app purchases. If paid features are introduced, they will be disclosed clearly before purchase, and they will never gate a safety-relevant advisory, an official weather alert, or your ability to read, export or delete your own data.
10. Availability
We provide the app as it is and do not guarantee it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free. Weather data depends on third-party services that can fail or change. Features may be added, changed or removed. The app is designed to keep working offline from cached data precisely because these things happen — but no software is certain.
11. Acceptable use
Do not use the app unlawfully, attempt to breach or overload our infrastructure, scrape or bulk-extract its data, reverse-engineer it except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded, or present its output as professional veterinary or meteorological advice to others.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app and the website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that any recommendation is correct for your animal.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss or harm arising from your reliance on guidance in the app — including injury to or loss of an animal, property damage, or personal injury. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us for the app, which is currently nothing.
14. Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or under any other consumer protection law that applies to you and cannot lawfully be excluded.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia — without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection provisions applying where you live.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and material changes will be noted in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
