1. Who we are

WeatherSpirit is a mobile application for iOS and Android, developed and operated by Kyle ("we", "us", "our"). Our contact address is support@weatherspirit.com.

This policy describes what information the app handles, what leaves your device, why, and what rights you have. It applies to the app and to this website.

2. Our model

WeatherSpirit is built so that we do not hold your data. There is no account system, no user database and no server-side profile — not as a policy we could change, but as an architecture. If our infrastructure disappeared tomorrow, the app on your phone would keep computing every advisory from its cached forecast, because that is where the computation happens already.

We therefore cannot sell, share, mine, or lose most of what this policy describes, because we never receive it.

3. What stays on your device

All of the following is stored in a database on your phone and is never transmitted to us:

• Your animals — names, species, ages, weights, clip and coat details, body condition, housing, comfort bands, and every other profile field
• Your wardrobe — the rugs and coats you own, and the record of what was on which animal when
• Your places — labels, coordinates at full precision, time zones, shelter, arena, drainage and water-source details
• Your own thresholds — every advisory constant you have changed, app-wide or for a single animal
• Your handler profile — cold tolerance, owned gear, typical session length
• Cached forecasts, weather history and the derived advisory timeline
• Which pictures you have been shown, so the app can avoid repeating them
• Preferences — theme and units

Deleting the app deletes all of it. So does Delete All My Data in settings, which works with no connection and needs no account.

4. What leaves your device

Exhaustively. There is no fourth item.

4.1 A rounded coordinate, to fetch a forecast

To retrieve weather for a place, the app sends a latitude and longitude rounded to two decimal places — roughly 1.1 km — before it leaves the device. The rounding is not a setting; the app is built so that an unrounded coordinate is structurally incapable of reaching a network request.

When you use your current location, the app asks the operating system for a reduced-accuracy fix rather than a precise one, so a precise position is never obtained in the first place. On Android the request passes through our own proxy, which exists only because Apple’s weather service requires a signing key that must never be embedded in an app. That proxy holds no account, no identifier and no user record, receives the coordinate already rounded, and excludes it from its logs regardless.

4.2 A public river-gauge identifier, only if you pin one

If — and only if — you pin a river crossing, the app sends that gauge’s public identifier to a United States government water-data service to read its published stage. A gauge identifier is a public landmark, not a location: it is the same number printed on the government’s own page for that gauge. Nothing about you accompanies the request.

4.3 A species name and an image id, to fetch artwork

The app ships with a set of images. To fetch one beyond that set, it sends a species name and an image id. Nothing else — no coordinate, no profile, no identifier.

4.4 Nothing else, to anybody

No name, no email address, no postal address, no phone number, no account, no device identifier, no advertising identifier, no contact list, no calendar, no photos, no usage analytics, no behavioural data, no crash-reporting-as-a-service, and no data broker of any kind. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no tracking SDK in the application binary.

5. Permissions

Location (approximate)	Optional. Requested only when you tap "use my current location" while adding a place. Declining is fully supported: place search and manual coordinates both work, and no feature is locked behind it. We never request precise or background location.
Notifications	Optional, and not yet in the app. When advisory notifications ship, they will be scheduled on your device from the cached forecast: no push server is involved and no notification content passes through us. Until then the app requests no notification permission at all.
Network	To fetch forecasts, gauge readings and artwork, as described in section 4.
Camera, photo library, microphone, contacts, calendar, precise location, background location	Not requested, and not present in the app.

6. Weather data and attribution

Weather comes from Apple’s weather service. Apple’s own privacy terms govern the data they return to us; their handling of the request is described in Apple’s documentation. Attribution to the service appears wherever weather data is displayed, as their terms require.

Official weather alerts are displayed exactly as issued, with the issuing agency named and their own link intact. We do not modify, shorten, summarise or obscure an official alert.

7. This website

weatherspirit.com is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no trackers, social widgets or advertising pixels.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google’s servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. If you would rather that did not happen, a content blocker will prevent it and the site will render in your system fonts.

If you submit the contact form or the launch-notification form, the address you type is transmitted to our form provider and reaches us by email. The launch list is used for exactly one message — on launch day — and is then deleted. It is not a newsletter and is never shared.

Our web host records standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. These are not linked to anything else and are not used to build a profile.

8. Children

WeatherSpirit is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since the app collects no personal information at all, there is nothing about a child — or anyone — for us to hold.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data an organisation holds about you, and to object to its processing. The unusual situation here is that we hold almost nothing to exercise them against.

Access	Everything the app holds about you is visible in the app itself. We hold no copy.
Correction	Edit it in the app. Nothing needs to be corrected on our side because nothing is stored there.
Export	Backup & Restore exports your animals, places, wardrobe, thresholds and preferences to a plain file you control.
Erasure	Delete All My Data in settings. It needs no network and no account, clears every store on the device, and returns the app to its first-run state. If you have emailed us, write to support@weatherspirit.com and we will delete that correspondence.
Objection / complaint	Write to us. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

10. Retention

Data on your device is kept until you delete it. Rounded coordinates sent for a forecast are not retained in a form associated with you. Email correspondence is kept for as long as it takes to deal with the matter and then deleted. Launch-notification addresses are deleted after the launch message is sent.

11. International transfers

We operate from Australia. The services involved in delivering a forecast, a gauge reading or an email may process requests in other countries, including the United States. Because the only values transmitted are a rounded coordinate, a public gauge number and an image id, no personal data about you is transferred by that processing.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be noted in the app. If a change ever meant the app started transmitting something it does not transmit today, that would be announced plainly and before it happened — not merged into a policy update.
